Museum Desks

The larger version of the counter features four sliding stainless steel doors which lightly reflect their surroundings. 

Two cabinets carry the top made of solid chestnut wood. The grain is oriented in the short direction, displaying the endgrain at the front. 

Featuring some interesting visible joinery, the mainframe is made of hemlock. ⁣


The doors can be opened up to reveal the space between the cabinets or open up two niches for displaying small objects or books for example. ⁣


A movable screen is placed to hide the monitors and other equipment that sits on the counter. In the future there will be a text on the screen to inform visitors. ⁣

The smaller version of the counter features only one cabinet. On the other side there is a nice joinery detail on display with a dovetailed brace and a column that is set back a bit.⁣
On this one, the sliding stainless steel doors can also be opened or closed to reveal certain parts of the design.⁣

A contemporary art museum commissioned these desks for their hosts to sit comfortably while also conveying a sense of authority and confidence.

On the visitor's side of each cabinet there is a hidden niche behind the sliding doors, which can be used to display exhibition-related materials or small objects
